Our main purpose is to discuss perception from a perspective that highlights its historicity. We focus more specifically on the analysis of screen devices. Based on Merleau-Pontian phenomenology and, especially, on the contributions of Mauro Carbone, we highlight the concept of Arche-Screen as a guide to our study. From there, we analyze modern devices of perception, linked to the constitution of the modern cognoscent subject, in order to situate a reconfiguration of the subject of observation that serves as a threshold for today’s devices of visibility. It is then that, in the light of the theories we have mobilized, we propose the figure of the observer-observed as a correlative to the quasi-agency of contemporary screen devices.
