Introduction: Implant-supported prosthetic rehabilitation of edentulous spaces in the smile region is a challenge for professionals. Achieving an aesthetically pleasing and functional restoration in single implant prostheses involves meticulous planning of implant positioning and ensuring harmony with the surrounding soft and hard tissues. Objective: to present a clinical case report demonstrating the successful outcome of a treatment approach utilizing provisional crowns and gingival conditioning in the final rehabilitation of an edentulous space with an implant-supported single crown. Case report: Patient MJFA, 36 years old, female, attended the Dental Prosthesis clinic of the Department of Dentistry/UFRN complaining of dental trauma with loss of tooth 15 and the need to “become with a more beautiful smile”. After the conical connection implant insertion and period of osseointegration, a provisional crown was fabricated on the implant, and gingival conditioning sessions were initiated through gradual addition of acrylic resin using the technique of gradual pressure under the gingival margin. The treatment approach resulted in improved peri-implant tissue and an appropriate emergence profile, with the patient demonstrating satisfactory aesthetic and functional outcomes at the 3-year follow-up. Conclusion: the use of gingival conditioning prior to the final prosthesis is an important step to achieve rehabilitation with aesthetic and functional characteristics comparable to natural teeth.
