Ricardo Basbaum and Jorgge Menna Barreto are artists, researchers and university professors who authored a consistent body of work, including dissertations and theses, contribute with publications, and lead workshops and lectures. They illustrate the connection between academia and the most varied art circuits through education and research, to the point where these matters are not just institutional conditions, but, rather, constitutive qualities of their poetic projects. Therefore, the aim of this study, from a historiographic perspective of art, is to delimit the importance of the poetic lines of education and research for contemporary art, both part of a larger phenomenon of art with an interest in knowledge.
