Abstract

This paper discusses the expanded field of printmaking, through its continuities, ruptures, junctions and contamination while also approaching their intersections and counterpoints with writing and image in the context of contemporary art. By discussing the relationship between artistic and commercial printmaking, it focuses the newspaper as a metaphor of modernity and contamination of the art through commercial language.

The analysis of two books, by Georges Banu and G. Didi-Huberman, advances the discussion on ways of structuring and writing an investigation on scenic arts. At the starting point we find two members of the audience who partially incorporate the spirit of the author of diaries in his critical task, either searching for variations on a theme – a text by Tchekov and its staging; or else composing expanded theoretical reference constellations aimed at establishing how a flamenco dancer projects himself in relation to time.

Keywords: member of the audience, critical task, staging.
