The constitution of a professional career runs through various circumstances and is influenced by factors of the most differentiated. Of all the occurrences of professional development, satisfaction for what is done is certainly the most important condition for unleashing the successes that sustain a profession. In addition, the search for the expansion of knowledge, usually from dedication to studies, from the practice of research and sharing of findings, represents a strategy for professional improvement. Therefore, this experience report describes the teaching trajectory of a newly formed librarian, when he was admitted as a substitute teacher to the Library Science Course at a federal university. It presents the institutional linking context of the substitute teacher and the educational activities that underpinned the disciplines taught by him, namely: Descriptive Representation I and II and Sources of Information. In addition, it reinforces the teaching method adopted in the disciplines, considering the philosophy of "teaching learning" and the practice of research. Finally, he concludes by pointing out the contributions of the experience in the professional development of the teacher and student, given the formation of skills and abilities necessary for the professional exercise in the labor market.
