UFBA INSTITUTIONAL REPOSITORY: VISIBILITY OF ACADEMIC PRODUCTIONS OF GRADUATES

This article aims to verify the availability of content of academic productions of graduated students in the Institutional Repository of the Federal University of Bahia. The repository presents the possibility of leveraging the visibility of the documents produced by these students, so that it stimulates the production of knowledge within the scope of undergraduate courses, meeting the principles of scientific communication in digital media. It is noticed that there are several means of dissemination for theses and dissertations, contemplating the production of graduate students, such as the Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations, maintained by the Brazilian Institute of Information in Science and Technology, and the Sucupira Platform Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel. Institutional Repositories present themselves as an important channel for the dissemination of scientific communication through the Graduation Work of undergraduate students, allowing the knowledge produced by them to be widely shared. Descriptive and exploratory research is characterized by its applied nature, through a qualitative and quantitative approach. We adopted as a data collection procedure the systematic observation of the repository and consultation with the representative of the repository's managing body. As a result, we found that few undergraduate courses offer graduates' productions, while other courses have not included any such documents. The survey of the data allowed to conclude that the insertion of Graduation Work for the graduates is still incipient, needing an incentive work with the coordinators, teachers and students of the undergraduate and normative courses for this insertion.
