Finding out the representation of the librarian of the present and the library of the future before the Alpha Generation is a provocative challenge, it involves exploring nuances and understanding their local determinants. The objective of this study is to situate the image of the present librarian and the representation of the school library of the future, both profiles communicated from the perspective of the new digital natives. The analysis method starts from the semi-structured interview with Alphas students from Umef Dr Tuffy Nader, in the city of Vila Velha, ES. The diagnostic script serves as an instrument for analyzing the Collective Subject Discourse (CSD) and aims to guide constructs such as: i) the meaning, representation that defines the librarian Being; and, ii) prospecting scenarios for the new school library of the future. Therefore, the approach is descriptive and analytical, based on discourse analysis with technological support from the DSCSoft software. The results show new times and habits for the school library and the information professional; it addresses the dilemmas of utopias, dystopia and retrotopy that digital culture and information technologies generate. The work highlights the permanent need for innovation by modern information professionals (MPI) in the library environment and outside; and says that the professional mission is based on scientific and technological knowledge, aligned with human values, for the full exercise of citizenship, with ethics.
