This article aims to analyze the formation of teachers of the stricto sensu Postgraduate Programs of the School of Information Science (SIC) at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (FUMG). The School houses two stricto sensu Postgraduate Programs in current activity: the Postgraduate Program in Information Science (PGPIS) and the Postgraduate Program in Management and Knowledge Organization (PGPMKO), both members of the Communication and Information area with grade five in the evaluation of Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CIHEP). The data collection procedures were performed on the lattes curriculum platform of the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (NCRs), which gathers data and academic information of Brazilian researchers. The names of the accredited professors in the Postgraduate Programs were identified on their websites. Regarding the data analysis procedures, the following categories were used: Graduation, Master’s Degree, Doctorate Degree, Master’s Degree and Doctorate Degree, No formation in Information Science. The results pointed a total of 45 professors/researchers: 22 from the PGPIS, 10 of whom do not have formation in Information Science, and 22 from the PGPMKO, five of whom have no formation in Information Science. The professors/researchers are from 13 scientific areas at the postgraduate level. Most of them (14) have a graduate degree in Library Science. There is a significant percentage of professors/researchers without formation in Information Science. Library Science and Information Science excluded, it should be noted that other 11 areas of knowledge are also present in teaching and research activities in the Postgraduate Programs analyzed.
