A model of collaborative networks represented in the Brazilian network initiative of institutional research data repositories

Abstract

This work presents the context of the initiative of the Brazilian network of institutional research data repositories, promoted by the Rede Nacional de Ensino e Pesquisa (RNP) in partnership with the Instituto Brasileiro de Informação em Ciência e Tecnologia (IBICT) and the Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (CNPq). Academic execution is provided by the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) through its Grupo de Trabalho Rede de Dados de Pesquisa (GT-RDP). The organization of the initiative uses concepts of collaborative networks, following bottom-up and top-down approaches, with its members represented by universities and science and technology institutes (ICTs). The activities carried out by the ICTs according to the theoretical precepts of collaborative networks are reported. Creating a collaborative network requires careful planning. It is understood that the Brazilian network of institutional research data repositories has been working on the implementation of best practices to ensure its success with strong alignment of the executive coordination of RNP, IBICT and CNPq and academic coordination of GT-RDP/UFRGS.
