Abstract

It recognizes open science as a movement that encourages the transparency of the scientific process as a whole, from its planning to its dissemination. It investigates the open science practices of journals in the field of law, indexed in the SciELO Brazil collection. It considers in this study open peer review, publication of manuscripts that are available as preprints, Creative Commons licenses, and management of research data. It identifies six journals in the domain of Law, indexed in the SciELO Brazil collection. All the journals analyzed attribute Creative Commons licenses to their publications – a requirement of SciELO criteria. It recognizes in the editorial policy of the "Revista Brasileira de Direito Procedural Penal" and the "Revista de Direito da Cidade" three open science practices: preprints, Creative Commons licenses, and research data management. The number of open science journals and practices developed by them is low when considering the context of SciELO's incentive to the application of these practices. The small number of journals in the field of law, indexed in SciELO, demonstrates an opportunity to create a reference database of scientific journals for the field of law.
