MALE DOMINATION AND THE SOCIOGENESIS OF THE CATEGORIES OF THOUGHT

A dialogue between Pierre Bourdieu and Émile Durkheim

Abstract

The present paper seeks to make a parallel between specific points of durkheimian sociology and the problem of the reproduction of domination, a subject of significant relevance in the sociology of Pierre Bourdieu. Bourdieu's effort to understand the objectivity of the social world, its structures, and its relation to subjective schemas of thought finds in Durkheim the social bases for the construction of the epistemological categories that guides the social world. Through a brief explanation about the authors and the main points of their productions that interest this dialogue, we will try to demonstrate how Durkheim occupies a significant place among the influencers of Bourdieu.

Possui graduação em Direito pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica de Minas Gerais e graduação em Ciências Sociais pela Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais. É mestre em Sociologia pelo Programa de Pós-Graduação em Sociologia da UFMG e Doutoranda no Programa de Pós-Graduação em Sociologia da UFPB. Tem como foco atual de estudo relações raciais brasileiras, sociologia da justiça e feminismo negro.

Doutoranda em Sociologia pelo Programa de Pós-Graduação em Sociologia da Universidade Federal da Paraíba(PPGS/CCHLA/UFPB), na linha Teoria de Gênero e Estudos da Sexualidade, sob orientação da Profa. Drª. Loreley Gomes Garcia. Desenvolvendo projeto de tese sobre Feminilidades, Masculinidades e os filmes/ histórias em quadrinhos de Super-heroínas e Super-heróis. Possui graduação em Ciências Sociais pela Universidade Federal da Paraíba (2010). Pós-graduada em História Cultural pela Universidade Estadual da Paraíba (2012). Mestra em Sociologia pela Universidade Federal da Paraíba (2014). Atualmente é Doutoranda em Sociologia no programa de Pós Graduação em Sociologia pela Universidade Federal da Paraíba. Tem trabalhos publicados na área de gênero, cultura política e raça.
