Abstract

The "Theories, Poetics and Practices of Ancient Music" dossier resulted from a collective effort undertaken from the homonymous working group constituted during the XXXI Congress of the National Association for Research and Postgraduate Studies in Music – ANPPOM, held between December 6th and 10th, 2021 remotely by the Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB).

Author Biography

Cassiano de Almeida Barros, Universidade do Estado de Santa Catarina (UDESC)

Cassiano Barros holds a bachelor's degree (2001), master's (2006) and doctor's degree (2011) in Music from the State University of Campinas – UNICAMP and a degree in Arts (2017) from Centro Universitário Claretiano. Barros has experience teaching in Higher Education and Basic Education, teaching Arts and educating musicians and music teachers. He is mainly dedicated to teaching and research, with emphasis on the areas of Historical Musicology and Music Theory. He carried out a post-doctoral internship at the University of São Paulo – USP and at the State University of Santa Catarina – UDESC, in the latter with support from CAPES. He is the author of the book Uma chave para a música do século XVIII (Appris, 2019) and, since 2023, he has been a professor at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte – UFRN.
