Abstract

This study deals with the care of students with deafness in university libraries, especially in the Central Library Zila Mamede, member of the Library System of the Federal University of Rio Grande Norte. It also discusses the current legislation on Access to Information and Universal Accessibility in these environments, as well as presents the Inclusion and Accessibility Policy for People with Disabilities in Federal University of Rio Grande Norte. It discusses the policies and guidelines created and made available for libraries to adapt to the informational inclusion of deaf users in library environments. It explains how care is provided for this audience at Central Library Zila Mamede  Accessibility Laboratory, as well as suggests recommendations that, if adopted, may offer deaf students access to library services on an equal basis, breaking down informational barriers and existing communication, and finally, prioritizes the creation of accessible collections for this audience.
