Abstract

This work investigated the influence of the Covid-19 pandemic on the requirements of Brazilian state funding agencies and on the perceptions and practices of researchers regarding the sharing of research data. This is an exploratory research, with qualitative and quantitative methods, supported by documentary and empirical research. The documentary research had a sample composed of 13 Research Support Foundations in Brazil, 26 notices published by these Foundations and 15 related documents. In the empirical research, a semi-structured questionnaire was applied to 393 researchers, covered by Brazilian state development agencies with research on Covid-19. The corpus of empirical research comprises 11% of the total number of identified researchers. It was found that the Covid-19 pandemic was not a determining factor in changing the performance of these Brazilian development agencies in favor of sharing, but it had a positive influence on the perception of researchers in recognizing the relevance of the practice to favor the acceleration of the pace of activities. research, greater transparency and the possibility of reusing data, considered crucial in health emergency situations.
