Conceptualização de sinais para tempo na Libras: metáfora e instrumentos linguísticos

Abstract

Analysis of the process of conceptualization of signs from Libras for past, present, future, before, today, now, based on linguistic instruments dating from the period between 1875 and 2011, in the light of the theory of conceptual metaphor (LAKOFF; JOHNSON, 2002[1980]) and other concepts of Cognitive Linguistics. The analysis revealed the underlying metaphors past is back, future is forward, present is locus (of ego/object) and life is journey in the conceptualization of the signs selected for this study. It was also possible to highlight the relationship between assumptions of Cognitive Linguistics and the History of Linguistic Ideas.
