Ethics and Anti-Plagiarism Policy

The journal Saberes upholds a strong commitment to academic integrity. To this end, the editors aim to establish ethical relationships with authors, reviewers, and all involved in the publication process. The journal is open to receiving feedback and suggestions to improve its editorial processes. Below are the commitments and recommended practices for the journal's key stakeholders:

Authors:

Authors are responsible for the content of their work and must ensure compliance with the ethical standards of scientific research (avoiding plagiarism, providing proper credits, etc.), as well as adhering to the ethical principles of their field of study.
All researchers who have made significant contributions to a manuscript should be credited as authors, following an order that reflects each one's contribution. If there is any potential conflict of interest related to the work, the author must declare in a final note that there are no omissions regarding ties with funding bodies or commercial or political institutions. Similarly, the institution to which the author is affiliated or that has collaborated in the study should be mentioned, ensuring that there are no conflicts of interest that could affect the results presented. If the research involved human experimentation, the author must inform that the appropriate ethical procedures for such a study were followed. If the author identifies any errors or inaccuracies in a work published in Saberes, they should inform the editors so that necessary corrections can be made and highlighted in the published article.

Reviewers:

Reviewers must alert the editors to any ethical breaches (such as plagiarism or duplicate submission) they detect in a reviewed work. Reviews should be based solely on criteria related to the scientific quality of the manuscript (originality, relevance, contribution to the field of study), and the reasons for approval or rejection should be expressed clearly, respectfully, and with solid arguments. If there is any impediment to an objective review of a manuscript, the reviewer should inform the editors, who will cancel the review request without any prejudice to the reviewer. If the reviewer cannot meet the deadlines or conduct the review, they should inform the editors so that measures can be taken to ensure the continuity of the review process.

Editors:

Submissions are checked with plagiarism detection software before being sent for peer review. Manuscripts found to contain plagiarism or self-plagiarism will not be accepted by the journal. If there are suspicions of scientific misconduct in manuscripts submitted to Saberes, such as those described in FAPESP's Code of Good Scientific Practice (fabrication and falsification of data, plagiarism, etc.), an investigation will be conducted, and the submission may be canceled. Reviewers are selected based on their expertise and knowledge in the area of the submitted work, aiming to avoid conflicts of interest or discrimination that could compromise the review process, which should be based solely on scientific merit. The journal ensures the anonymity and confidentiality of both authors and reviewers during the review process to maintain its integrity. Once the manuscript is accepted for review, the journal strives to ensure an efficient and impartial editorial process and is open to providing authors with updates on the status of their submissions. If a published work receives a report of ethical misconduct or inaccuracy, the journal's Editorial Committee will investigate the matter, consulting the author. If the report is confirmed, the journal will take appropriate actions, which may include correcting or retracting the work.
