Abstract

This study aims to identify in official documents and in discussions of authors references about the use of cinema in high school. The methodology used comprises a bibliographic research, with the corpora of analysis selected from the National Common Curriculum Base, the National Curricular Parameters and the Educational Guidelines Complementary to the National Curricular Parameters, in addition to productions of authors who discuss the subject. The analyses indicated that official documents consider cinema as a modern and innovative resource and that it contributes to a more critical and technological education. However, there are indications of the understanding that cinema is an easier and simpler resource for the teacher. On the other hand, the authors consulted emphasize cinema as a great tool in critical teaching, interdisciplinary work and the captivation of the student as authentic material.
