This work seeks to analyze how the construction of points of view (POV) occurs in comics by cartoonist Laerte Coutinho that deal with the theme of gender transition of the character Hugo to Muriel. The article is based on the enunciative-interactional theory from the point of view of Alain Rabatel (2013, 2015, 2016[2008]) and seeks to understand how perspectives and perceptions are constructed in the narrative (Rabatel, 2015; 2016[2008]; Autor, 2011), in articulation with the theory of referentiation based on sociocognitive and interactional (Mondada and Dubois 2019[1995]; Cavalcante and Martins, 2020; Cavalcante et al., 2022). In this context, we are guided by the fundamental assumption that referentiation is one of the strategies for constructing a point of view (Rabatel, 2016[2008]; Autor, 2011). We also argue that the construction of the POVs must consider the multisemiotic elements of the text, which is done in this work by adopting a qualitative approach to the treatment and analysis of the comics. Our analyses show the existence of recategorizations in situations of humor construction in the comics. In these cases, we observe that these recategorizations contribute to POVs that focus on the construction of Hugo's femininity during the gender transition process, through situations or elements of the feminine universe. We also observe that the referents Hugo and Muriel are always viewed differently, evidencing dissonant POVs. While Hugo appears in the narratives upset, dissatisfied or unable to perform some action/activity, Muriel appears happy and able to perform actions/activities that Hugo cannot.
