Leila Cravo, Podcast Leila, True CrimeAbstract
This article aims to analyze the self-reports of actress and television presenter Leila Cravo, about what happened to her in 1975, when she was found injured and unconscious on a highway, close to a famous motel in Rio de Janeiro. This case received wide repercussions from the media, which mobilized public opinion relatively to Leila, whose career was affected by society's judgment. As an object of analysis, records of Leila’s self-reports shown on the podcast “Leila”, available on “Globoplay” platform, will be observed. To study the speeches, discourse analysis will be used, mainly the ideas of Michel Foucault, as well as Christian Dunker's concept of post-truth, in order to understand how Leila described herself, and how she felt professionally and personally affected by what happened and its repercussions. Thus, the aim is to better understand the effects of public opinion, generally sexist, on prominent women, and to explain how certain tools of exclusion and silencing can act in society.
