Ecos de um passado emudecido: uma leitura do poema memórias das águas, de Diógenes da Cunha Lima

Abstract

From a comparative and dialogic perspective, establishing as critical and theoretical reference the thought of Bakhtin (1997) and Candido (1975), in which present and past literatures are compared side by side, under the paradigma of literary continuity, we cast a look to Diógenes da Cunha Lima’s work, Memória das águas, as a mean to contribute to the expansion of the interest dedicated to Rio Grande do Norte’s literature. That perspective considers, as expressed by Antonio Candido, in Literatura e sociedade, the written productions and the contexts that they are involved in. Therefore, this analysis embraced the following procedures: a) theoretical study of literature coming from a dialogic perspective; b) study of literature and its articulation with social life, priorizing the reading of poetic texts; c) and a pursuit for contextualizations between the writings and its authors, considering local and national literary productions and the relation between them.
