Abstract

Researching writing production in the academy implies understanding the process of production, distribution and reception of genres, since texts are designed to be understood within certain cultural contexts. The researches of Biasi-Rodrigues (1998 and 2009), Swales (1990), address aspects such as: conceptions of genres that extrapolate a perspective towards a textual 'formula'; the notion of the gender chain and the interrelationship between them; and the notion of academic literacies. In this way, we intend to investigate copies of abstracts, observing the conduction, distribution and organization of information as an indicator element of the academic literacy of undergraduate students, some of them majoring in Portuguese and in Mathematics. Our research is of exploratory-descriptive nature, analyzing a corpus consisting of ten abstracts of course completion papers – TCC. The results demonstrate essential differences in the productions, as well as non-prototypical elements revealed in the analyzed samples, evidencing the marks of the disciplinary culture.
