In this case study we analyzed a female folk healer from the outskirts of Fortaleza, the capital city of Ceará. We have chosen her as the object of our post-doctoral research because she represents the kind of folk healers we believe to be of the type we classify as traditional (unlike the neoshamanic healers who are nowadays more numerous and who attract more followers), but who is adapting herself to the postmodern contours of the Global Village that the planet has become, by having among her consultants those ones who live abroad without neglecting the ones who seek her in situ, aiming to have their demands met. The bibliographical survey that we have done for this article is anchored in important theorists of the area such as Conceição (2008), Rosario (2014) and Theotonio (2011), among others. We conclude by ratifying the importance of a closer study of female folk healers, like the rezadeiras, recording their praxis, in order to preserve the memory of such women touched by the gift of healing.
