This paper presents the main morphosyntactic characteristics related to the nominal and verbal compounds of the Apinajé and Parkatêjê indigenous languages, both belonging to the Jê family, Macro-Jê linguistic stock. We will use data from these languages, taken from Oliveira (2005) and Ferreira (2003), to analyze and raise hypotheses regarding the morphosyntactic behavior of compounds in these languages. Therefore, we will consider the grammatical relations between the elements of the compounds as the universal aspect in the composition process and we will present the possible morphological combinations of the compounds in the languages studied. We will also make some theoretical considerations about the process of composition from Booij (2007) and Lieber & Štekauer (2009), mentioning the difficulty in defining this process in natural languages.
