O caráter linguístico regional-popular da poesia de Ascenso Ferreira

Abstract

This article aims to present a reflection on regionalism in Pernambuco's popular literature. So, the corpus was constructed based on poems by the writer Ascenso Ferreira, because the author belongs to a generation of writers concerned with language, literature and the problems of society in transition. The regional marks found in his poems served to approximate the reality of the reader. Therefore, in order to understand a little about the way in which his language manifests himself in modern regionalist poems, it was decided to analyze them from a lexical and morphosyntactic point of view. It was noticed, with the analysis, that the examples of simple lexias, idioms and constructions of oral tradition are common in spontaneous language spoken in Pernambuco, but that can also be found in other states of the Northeast, which only confirms the importance of studies of this nature, whose broader purpose is to understand beyond the speaker’s “local color”, the heterogeneity of the language he speaks.
