This article presents a literary analysis of the poetic work of Lubi Prates, emphasizing the book Um Corpo Negro, which discusses racial issues in contemporary times, from the historical and social place of black women. Prates brings, through his poetic voice, claims about the physical and symbolic violence that permeate the existence of black bodies in the Brazilian context. The poet also represents the act of becoming a subject, essential for the deconstruction of the literary canon that still neglects and excludes the plurality of voices that exist. In this sense, poems were chosen that debate, according to our interpretation, the black genocide: this extermination policy that arises from the slave trade and is present until today. As a theoretical basis, black authors were prioritized, some of them are Kilomba (2019), Gonzalez (2020) and Almeida (2021), in order to freely echo this voice that emerges against attempts at silencing.
