This is a research in the area of Interactional Sociolinguistics and its objective is to investigate the self-image ("self") of the singer Ivete Sangalo during an interview given to a radio station in Bahia, Brazil, in 2017. The underlying theoretical framework is based on the idea of "face" introduced by Goffman (2014; 2010; 2011; 1980), as well as the cordiality studies rooted in Holanda (2014) and revisited by other authors who can ratify the imbrications of such concepts as key elements in the structuring of the artist's profile (affinity self) in combination with the other participants. The analysis is of qualitative and interpretive nature and its focus lies on a significant trait in the singer's media buildup: the formulation and/or maintenance of her identity as a member of the "regular folk."
