This study aimed to investigate the pedagogical treatment given to lexical selection in video lessons for teaching Portuguese. We gave attention to video lessons production practices, focusing on vocabulary selection, since these have assumed a prominent role in the pedagogical scenario of our country, mainly due to the methodological reorganization that teaching has experienced, considering the Covid-19 pandemic. Therefore, our research is documentary, applied and has an interpretive-descriptive purpose. The methodological approach developed began with the cataloging of five video lessons, distributed among four online educational channels, two on their own platforms and two on the YouTube platform, followed by their interpretation. For the analysis of the contents, we draw from the theoretical contributions of Neves (2020), Antunes (2012), Bezerra and Reinaldo (2020), Rocha (2008) and Freire (2015). Finally, based on the results obtained, we observed the work of lexical selection according to criteria of suitability to the theme, purpose, reader/listener, textual genre, and context. These aspects are organized within the axis of lexical teaching focused on the textual-interactive functioning of lexical items. Regarding the perspectives of linguistic analysis, we verified that the majority of occurrences are aligned with innovative and conciliatory tendencies.
