Abstract

Introduction: This study investigates how scientific production on the Atlantic Forest relates to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with emphasis on SDG 15 (Life on Land) and its interconnections with other goals from a socio-environmental perspective. Objective: The study aims to identify the most recurrent SDGs and targets in the analyzed publications, examine the main associated terms, and highlight how scientific research has contributed to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda. Methodology: This is a descriptive study based on bibliometric and content analysis of articles indexed in the Scopus database between 2015 and 2024. The corpus was analyzed using the SDG Mapper tool, developed by the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC), which identifies semantic correspondences between scientific publications and the SDGs. This procedure was complemented by a qualitative reading of the texts in order to refine the interpretation of the results. Results: The findings indicate the predominance of SDG 15, which accounts for 66.9% of the occurrences, followed by SDGs 13 (Climate Action), 2 (Zero Hunger), 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities). The most recurrent targets were 15.2, related to sustainable forest management; 15.5, concerning the reduction of biodiversity loss; and 15.9, focused on integrating biodiversity values into public policies. Conclusion: Scientific production on the Atlantic Forest contributes significantly to the commitments of the 2030 Agenda, although gaps remain in its social and institutional dimensions.
