Abstract

Introduction: The research is based on the recognition of the role of digital social networks in the mediation and circulation of academic content, highlighting the importance of understanding how these platforms are and can 9 to expand the visibility of the scientific production of Open Access journals. Objective: To identify the resources and communicational strategies of Facebook used by Open Access scientific journals in the field of Information Science to expand the visibility, access, and impact of academic productions, supporting the proposition of a digital communication plan for these journals. Methodology: This is an applied, descriptive research with a quantitative-qualitative approach, in which 198 journals in the field of Information Science indexed in the Directory of Open Access Journals were analyzed. Data collection involved identifying active Facebook profiles and recording the types and formats of publications used by the journals, in addition to the construction of a digital communication plan. Results: The results reveal that Facebook is used as a digital scientific marketing strategy by 72 journals, which use the platform to disseminate scientific articles, projects, and techniques for access to information, preferring formats such as images, external links, and informational texts. Conclusion: The analysis showed that Facebook is mainly used as a digital scientific marketing resource aimed at the visibility of journals, but with little diversification of formats and strategies. Based on these results, a communication plan was developed to contribute to the objective dissemination of content and to direct users to other platforms.
