This work aims to understand how the narrative of Abishag – hóspede inevitável (2012) [Abishag: Inevitable Guest], by João Câmara, is configured in the intersemiotic relationship between verbal text and visual text, on context of the Picture book. We start from the general hypothesis that the work is constituted within an intersemiotic perspective and that the relationship established between conventional signs (words) and iconic signs (illustrations) goes beyond theoretical categorizations of complementarity or simple correspondence between the visual text and the verbal text. For this, we take as our main theoretical basis, authors such as Genette (1995) and Franco Jr. (2009) regarding Narratology; and Nikolajeva and Scott (2011) of intersemiotic theory.
