TESSITURA DO ERRO E SUAS CAUSAS ENTRE ENTENDIMENTO E VONTADE NA FILOSOFIA DE DESCARTES

Abstract

This essay adopts an analytical philosophical approach to investigate the cause of error in René Descartes Philosophy. It uses primary sources such as the “Metaphysical Meditations” and the “Principles of Philosophy”, together with the author's own “Rules for the Guidance of the Spirit”, as well as complementary secondary sources. In order to elucidate this approach, the essential elements linked to Will, Understanding, the search for knowledge and interaction with the idea of God are emphasized. The methodology employed comprises a detailed textual analysis of the mentioned works, with the purpose of identifying Descartes' conceptions and arguments about Will, freedom, error and the search for truth. In conclusion, one can see, from this analysis, the synthesis of the fundamental concepts of the Cartesian philosophical perspective about the nature of error and its origins.
