Abstract

The National Common Curricular Base (BNCC) is one of the main normative documents guiding contemporary Brazilian education and serves as the framework for the curricular organization of Basic Education nationwide. This study aims to analyze how the BNCC addresses the categories of cultural diversity, identity, and inclusion, discussing their convergences and divergences in relation to post-critical curriculum theories and critical multiculturalism. The study is grounded in the contributions of Silva (2020), Hall (2003), Candau (2011), among others. It is a qualitative, exploratory study developed through a thematic documentary analysis of the BNCC. The findings indicate that the BNCC recognizes cultural diversity, promotes respect for differences, and advocates democratic participation as fundamental educational principles. However, these elements are frequently presented in a normative and generic manner, without adequately addressing power relations. Therefore, the analysis reveals that the BNCC offers important possibilities for pedagogical practices committed to valuing diversity, while highlighting the need for curricular mediations that strengthen perspectives oriented toward social justice and the democratization of knowledge.
