Abstract

This article presents a quantitative study on the understanding of students enrolled in the Information Technology Technical Course offered by the Instituto Metrópole Digital (IMD) – Caicó branch, focusing on various aspects of distance education. The study explores key dimensions such as face-to-face meetings, teacher mediation, communication, satisfaction with discussion forums, Moodle navigation, motivation, and overall course experience. The research was conducted in stages, beginning with the theoretical framework based on the history and access to distance education, followed by practical research using a structured questionnaire applied to enrolled students. Data analysis revealed a generally positive perception among students regarding the analyzed dimensions. Overall satisfaction with the course is high, with a strong tendency toward recommendation, although some concerns were raised regarding opportunities for professional development. These results highlight both successful aspects and areas for improvement in the educational experience provided by the course.
