The climate emergency has become a global priority recently, starting with the United Nations Conference in Stockholm and driven by environmental disasters that have reinforced the need for environmental protection through international law, integrating global and regional systems. This field has evolved significantly over the last fifty years, harmonizing with national legislation and resulting in several international treaties, such as the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, the Kyoto Protocol and the Paris Agreement, which aim to combat climate change. climate change and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. These treaties, replicated in Brazilian legislation and jurisprudence, highlight the global effort for sustainability and preservation of natural resources. Given this scenario, this study analyzes this multilevel system of protection, highlighting the role of criminal law and the consolidation of jurisprudence in environmental matters through dialogue between different jurisdictions.
